/Pricing, specifications of two variants shared.
WHAT you’ll pay and what you’ll get: Those details about a city chic compact crossover returning the Chery brand to the market are finally out.
The Tiggo 4 will present in two formats, a $24,990 (plus on-road costs) Urban and a $29,990 Ultimate, both powered by a 108kW/210Nm 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine with an automatic transmission.
The Urban runs 17-inch alloy wheels, has LED headlights and taillights and features dual 10.25-inch displays, wired and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, voice command, six-speaker audio, seven airbags, a reverse camera, tyre pressure monitoring and driver assistance systems.
The Ultimate upgrades to 18-inch alloy wheels and adds into the specification an 15W wireless charger, 360-degree camera, artificial leather upholstery, heated front seats, a power sunroof, ambient lighting, power folding mirrors, and remote window control.
“The Tiggo 4 has already demonstrated its value in the Australian market,” says Chery ANZ chief operating officer Lucas Harris. “We expect it will appeal to New Zealand families and buyers entering the SUV segment.”
The model holds a five-star ANCAP safety rating and has received awards in Australia.
It will be the smallest choice in a family of Tiggo sports utilities expected to arrive here, topping with the Tiggo 9, a model designed to take on the Kia Sorento and Hyundai Santa Fe.
Cited rivals for the Tiggo 4 span from the MG ZS, Mitsubishi ASX and the GWM Haval Jolion to the Kia Stonic and Mazda CX3.
Chery’s New Zealand operation will launch with a network of 10 dealerships.
